PUPILS at Okehampton Primary School recently had the opportunity to say ?bonjour? to their counterparts at l?École St Joseph in Craon, Okehampton?s twin town, thanks to computer technology. Pupils talked directly to the French children through a webcam link set up between the two schools. Teachers say the move gave a terrific boost to what the children have been learning in French this year, and enabled them to exchange information about names, ages, birthdays and pets. The experience made the language become real, as the image of the French children loomed large on an interactive board in the classroom. This first communication between the schools was received extremely positively on both sides of the Channel, and will become a regular feature of the primary school French programme. Anyone interested in becoming involved with Okehampton Twinning Association, or hosting a French family over the Bank Holiday weekend in August, should contact Mrs Westman on 01837 52246.
