Tavistock Colts 18 Kingsbridge Colts 5 WEARING new shirts sponsored by Langdon Transport, Tavistock, played up the slope in the first half and defended their line well from an early onslaught. Centres Jack Hodges and man of the match Mark Webber snuffed out any Kingsbridge breaks. A lapse in concentration and missed tackles from broken play let Kingsbridge No 8 in for their only try. Tavistock came back with a planned move from a scrum on Kingsbridge 22-metre line when scrum half Ewan Smith scored in the corner. Kingsbridge disrupted Tavistock?s lineout ball but after some reshuffling donkey Shaw started to catch clean ball and feed his pacey backs. Tavistock pressured the Kingsbridge line and were awarded a penalty which Andrew Smerdon converted. Ewan Smith spotted a gap up the blindside and darted up the touchline, kicked ahead and touched down a great solo try. Before half-time Tavistock saw the return of prop Ashley Martin who came on for injured Paddy Warlow. The extra power to the front row help the home side to dominate the scrums and captain Hammy Kerswell to take some ball against the head. They changed ends 13-5 with Kingsbridge now defending the slope which they did well and on several occasions threatened Tavistock?s line. But Tavistock made some great runs and managed to bring new boy Alex Bointon into the line from full back who linked well with the wingers Tom Hancock and Josh Brown who made intelligent breaks down the line. A kick down into Kingsbridge 22 chased well by second row Martin Rylands forced Kingsbridge to kick up the slope but was intercepted by No 8 Jake Chinn who raced to the try line and powered over to score the final try.
