Devon seconds A
Sidmouth thirds v Tavistock seconds
SIDMOUTH won the toss and decided to bat and playing in 20/20 style, any width at all was punished on a good wicket.
Tavistock fought back with Gliddon having Briggs well caught by Goodchild at first slip. He opened the bowling with up and coming colt Dave Milligan.
Gater and Goodwin pushed Sidmouth onto 70 after only 10 overs. Tavistock captain McGahey brought Jeffery and Sam Willetts into the attack and the latter took four wickets — one of them the important wicket of Goodwin who was caught at deep mid on by Phil Stephens. Sidmouth were now floundering at 133-7. Jamie Stephens tied them up with a superb spell of 1-30 off ten. Gliddon mopped up the tail when Phil Stephens' superb running catch deep mid-on meant they had been reduced to 164-9.
The Tavistock reply got off to a blistering start with excellent stroke play from Jonty Newton (26) and Nick Goodchild (32) before they both threw their wickets away. Witcher soon followed but Mark Webber hit a superb 62 —including dispatching pace bowler Mansfield for four fours in an over.
At 112-3 John McGahey joined Webber and they saw Tavistock home with nine overs to spare and collect 19 points.
