TAVISTOCK Cricket Club suffered more weekend frustration as the weather had the last word in both of Saturday's league fixtures.
At the Ring, a delayed start meant that the second eleven's duel with Chudleigh was reduced to 36 overs per innings.
The home side notched up a creditable 125 for 7 in slow, damp conditions. Clive Johns and Geoff Crudgington again provided a sound launch-pad and Bobby Luscombe top-scored with a middle-order 36 not out.
Sadly, the prospects of a good finish were mocked by the rain that began during the interval and led to an abandonment.
The first eleven's visit to Plymstock ended in similar circumstances. The home side put together an all-out total of 146, the wickets being shared by Andy Gauler, Tshepo Legodi, Adam Bridgwater and Matthew Smith.
No further play was possible, and Tavistock had to be content with a modest harvest of full bowling points from a drawn game.
Cricketers are natural optimists, and there is every expectation of fine weather when the two sides resume their league campaign on Saturday.
On Sunday afternoon the visitors to the Ring will be Ivybridge. This friendly match begins at 2.30pm and is sponsored by The Beer Seller, independent wholesales.
