NorthOkes RFC U15s 7 Barnstaple RFC U15s 7 AFTER a night of torrential rain this match was moved to the Park where Northokes continued their impressive progress. Playing without key personnel due to injury Northokes took the game to their opponents. A series of drives led to Andy Evans peeling around the side of a ruck under the posts to score his first try for the team. Paul Winthorpe converted. Barum broke through with a well taken try by their centre. With the conversion it was all square at the break. Within minutes of the restart Northokes were reduced to 14 when Chris Knott was sin-binned for indiscipline. This gave Barum the advantage and a break through the centre by their full-back saw Si Fellows make a try-saving tackle under the posts. Whilst not a stylish game more due to the conditions, it was well fought. Training Friday 5.30pm all-weather. Sunday Saracens (a) Okehampton U13s 5 Barnstaple U13s 10 THE squad met at Barnstaple for their game and a study of the pitch close to the new bridge showed conditions had not changed and it would be a muddy encounter. Okehampton launched the first of a series of attacks which kept them in the Barnstaple half for the majority of the half. After 15 minutes Alex Atthurs crossed the line in the corner for a good try which was unconverted. During the second half with attacks and counter attacks, both sides came close to scoring. Halfway through the half Barnstaple equalised. The Okehampton forwards did sterling work and Lee put in good attacks which unfortunately were stopped short of the line. In the final minute Barnstaple scraped across the line again. Barnstaple U12s 0 NorthOkes U12s 63 NORTHOKES played near-perfect expansive rugby against an improving Barnstaple, with forwards and backs interpassing superbly. Luke Liversidge, showing all his running skills, went over first to touch down. Calum Pilavent barged his way through for two more. By now the forwards had taken total control, winning all set-piece ball, and the mauling was clinical, with Alfie Lawson, Zac Middleton and Callum Barber gelling well. Giles Heard, back on top form, scorched in for two tries, as did Billy Searle, side-stepping and jinking his way through. The whole team?s passing was out of the top draw. Wingers Josh Punchard and Edward Penrose went through on numerous occasions, only being stopped by last-ditch tackles from Barnstaple. Josh Bickley stripped the ball from Barnstaple time and time again, resulting in him scoring a deserved try. Okehampton U10s 10 Barnstaple U10s 40 THE first half saw Okehampton trying hard to stay on top but in the end, Barnstaple had the lead three tries to two, both tries by Brandon. Great tackles by Reece, Freddie and Jacob held Barnstaple back but they took a couple of handy snatches to touch down the ball and score. In the second half, Barnstaple's determination seemed stronger and they scored five more tries. Despite fantastic runs by Patrick and Reece, Okehampton just could not score. Brandon crossed the line, but was prevented from grounding the ball by a strong defence. l OKEHAMPTON U8s travelled to Barnstaple last Sunday and won both their matches convincingly. The first match was won 6-1 with two tries scored by Okehampton?s Jack Ogbourne, Leon Horn and Greg Davies each. In the second game Okehampton won 3-1 with Greg Daniels, Ethan Hoggins and Angus Bond all scoring a try. Angus?s try was particularly noteworthy as this was his first cap for the team. This maintains Okehampton?s unbeaten record this season for a side that continues to go from strength to strength.
