A CHARITY committed to supporting heart sufferers, their partners and their carers in the South West aims to put the fun back into fundraising this Valentine's Day.
Saturday, February 14, will be HeartSWell South West's fourth 'Wear It Red' day. Since the beginning in 2006, 'Wear it Red' has raised more than £4,000.
A spokesperson for HeartSWell said: 'Once again, we would like as many local businesses and schools as possible to take part in what has become an annual regional event.
'We are asking people to wear as little or as much red clothing as they want, although head to toe with dyed red hair would be fantastic.'
The charity's suggested contribution is £1 to 'Wear it Red' but a fine of £2 for not participating.
HeartSWell South West raises funds for the purchase of vital cardiac equipment for the south west Cardiothoracic Centre at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth; funds a specialist cardiac nurse counsellor at Derriford Hospital; awards training grants to cardiac nurses, and owns HeartSWell Lodge, accommodation where families, friends and carers of patients from outside Plymouth can stay while their loved ones are receiving treatment at the hospital.
