REBECCA Joynes? letter (June 30) extolling the virtues of a club for over 18s and quoting Prince Charles? questions in 1977 as to what there was to do, means nothing in the year 2005. Twenty eight years ago none of us had the spending power of 2005 and most of us were rebuilding our shattered lives following a hellish war when we were a battered and bruised country. The pubs closed at 10pm and we learned the hard way to budget our spending ? there were no ?credit cards? ? we paid as we bought and did our best to stay clear of debt! Let the club go ahead by all means, but serving soft drinks only plus coffee and sandwiches. Go into Plymouth if there is not enough to do in Tavistock because this is how we like it and this is how it must stay! Mrs Lucy Smith 2 Lang Grove Down Park Drive Tavistock
