OKEHAMPTON couple Steven and Lisa Dawe will be appearing on our screens soon on the popular quiz show ?Family Fortunes?.
The couple, who recorded the show in Nottingham two weeks ago, are two members of the Cobbledick family (Lisa?s maiden name), five of whom will appear on the show.
Sworn to secrecy by the television company, the family are unable to say how they fared although Lisa says they did okay.
A fan of the show, Lisa said she just decided to go for it and apply one day: ?When we watch quiz programmes we often say we could do that but like most people we never did anything about it . . . until now,? she said.
?I applied last October but did not hear anything for ten months so it was a bit of a surprise. We went for an audition in Exeter in July and the next day we knew we had got through.?
The programme featuring the Cobbledick family will be shown on ITV on November 13 at 5.30pm. The new series of Family Fortunes will be screened five days a week at teatime instead of its usual weekend slot and be hosted by new presenter Andy Collins instead of comedian Les Dennis.
The prize up for grabs is £3,000.
Lisa, who is a dental nurse in Okehampton, said the family had a fantastic day and they were made to feel very relaxed.
?A lot of the time we did not realise we were being filmed and the presenter was extremely good,? she said. ?I certainly would not hesitate in taking part in another quiz show if the opportunity came up.?
