SO now rural schools are threatened (Times, May 30). No surprise there.
After the village shop and village pub the next casualty of the 'not in my back yard brigade' had to be the village school. Without affordable housing it had to happen.
The only way in these tough economic times for businesses and services to exist is for them to have a customer base on their doorstep.
In the same edition, another member of the 'not in my back yard brigade' is whipping up support against a farmer in Lamerton because he has the nerve to want a wind farm on his land. I'm sure the farmer would be quite happy to sell his land for affordable housing, thus encouraging young marrieds to move to the village, eventually producing children, who will then go to school, thus making the school economic.
Problem solved.
