WHITCHURCH Wayfarers travelled to Yelverton for the away half of the Sunday Friendly local derby. Yelverton batted first, looking to build a good platform before yet another spectacular catch by G Curson at backward square leg from the bowling of G Hall (3 - 38) broke the opening partnership.

The Yelverton number three, M Taylor (31) dug in before eventually being stumped by Tamblin off the bowling of T Sackfield (4 - 56). Yelverton continued to score steadily on their way to the closing score of 152 for 10 including a hefty wag of the tail from M Treweeks (28).

In reply Whitchurch made a shaky start and it was not until the third wicket partnership between R Hall and N Tamblin (33) that the scoreboard was unduly troubled. With Pearson (3 - 21) breaking this pairing it wasn't until S Davies and G MacDougall (37) got together for a rapid 61 runs — featuring some superb running between the stumps — that Whitchurch looked in with a chance of winning. Heath (2 - 15) put paid to the chances of a win and as the visitors settled down for a draw two quick run outs changed the possible draw to a loss with Whitchurch closing on 139 for 10.
