THE curtain closed on the Whitchurch Wayfarers season with the traditional match between the Chairman's select XI and a club XI.
The club, led by club captain Dean Elliott, won the toss and invited Neil Tamblin's Chairman's side to bat first.
Runs were hard to come by, as Daymond made use of a helpful pitch to bamboozle the batting. Ed Hulme hit a couple of boundaries before chipping to Newton for 11.
The chairman's strong batting line up crumbled with two wickets apiece to Churchill, Daymond, Cummings and Elliott.
Only Joshi showed that runs could be scored on the drying pitch, making a majestic 45. The innings was wrapped up with Hodge taking his first wicket in living memory.
The Chairman's side were bowled out for 91.
In reply, the club looked eager to wrap the game up as quick as possible. Credicott danced down the track to his first delivery and thick edged over third man for four.
After a few more boundaries, the wily bowling of Folley lured Credicott to hole out to Gray at deep mid on.
In the following over, Folley struck again, removing Jonny Elliott, largely due to a stunning one handed, diving catch from Gray.
The runs continued to flow, with the club looking for an early finish.
Newton scored well, before walking past a delivery and being bowled behind his legs by the chairman.
Tamblin ended with two wickets and Abraham with one, before some agricultural shots from Barriball rounded the game off.
The club won by five wickets.
