CALIFORNIAN artist Henry Asencio could provide someone with the perfect Christmas present this year. Tavistock Picture Framing Gallery annually donates a painting to the Lions for their Christmas Draw. However Nina Hawkins, who runs the business with husband Martin, said that this year Tavistock Lions would be getting something ?very special? ? a Henry Asencio limited edition print. Nina said: ?There are a lot of people in the area that, through us, know of his work. So, therefore the Lions will take some good money in raffle tickets. ?It is so beautiful, an exquisite little picture. This is one of those pictures that just glows. You don?t need to know who did it ? you just look at it and think: Wow!? She described the painting ? a predominantly green and gold picture of a draped nude ? as a sensual work of art. ?It is a watercolour which is very rare for Henry because he usually paints in oils.? She said she hopes whoever won it keeps it ? but if it was sold she would expect it to raise at least £1,000. Lions president Lyn Roberts said: ?I think it is absolutely wonderful. They have done us proud. Each year they are very generous but this is fantastic. ?If someone keeps the painting, who knows what it will be worth in a few years? time?? She said all the profits from the Christmas draw go to children?s charities in the area. ?It will be brilliant if, because of this excellent donation, we sell more draw tickets for such a good cause.?
