BIRDWATCHERS can watch for over-wintering avocet and other waders and wildfowl from a new bird hide. The Cornwall Wildlife Trust is holding a walk on Saturday February 25 to visit the hide overlooking the Tamar Estuary, with walk leaders Peter Kent and Gary Lewis. The afternoon session runs from noon to 2pm with a charge of £2 for adults and 50p for children. Binoculars and fieldscopes should be taken if possible and stout footwear worn. Booking is essential on 01579 351163 as spaces are strictly limited. The group will meet outside the reception of the China Fleet Club, Saltash (SX428605) at 12 noon. Parking is available in the main car park. The visit will take place again on March 11.
