ROGUE contractors have been operating in the West Devon area, claiming an involvement with the A30 Merrymeet Junction improvements works, the Highways Agency has warned. The gangs claim to be offering ?cheap? driveway surfacing with materials left over from the A30 Merrymeet Junction Improvement site. The gangs, who have a K-registered white Volvo truck with a yellow ?hotbox? on the rear, have nothing to do with the Merrymeet contract, where Interserve Project Services are the main contractors for the Highways Agency. Interserve advise any householders who need their driveway to be surfaced to approach only accredited surfacing contractors, and obtain more than one quote, with examples of previous works carried out. If anyone believes they may have been approached by the gangs, they are asked to contact Devon Trading Standards through Consumer Direct on 08454 040506 or the police on 08452 777444.
