THE congregation of All Saints Church, Okehampton, will be taking shelter from the cold in St James' Chapel this Sunday, February 3. The heating system at the parish church has broken down and, with cold weather forecast for the end of the week, the decision has been taken to move the services to St James' in the town centre. Okehampton Rector the Rev Stephen Cook said: 'We have been having trouble with the boilers for some time now but we've been nursing them along, hoping to get through the winter. 'We are very hopeful that we can patch them up and get them going again for the following week, but in the long term a more drastic solution is looking increasingly necessary. 'In the meantime, we are very fortunate to have an alternative venue in which to worship. There are still people at All Saints who can remember when St James' had several services every Sunday. Some of them used to sing in the St James' choir, so for some at least it will be like coming home.' There is a family service at 11am, followed by refreshments in the church hall, and holy communion at 6.30pm. Everyone is welcome.
