WARMING up Exbourne will be the objective when a roadshow being promoted by West Devon Borough Council rolls into the village next week. The council, working in partnership with other organisations, has launched an energy-efficiency and home safety scheme to help West Devon householders keep warm, safe and save money. Energy saving tips being offered can help householders to reduce fuel bills by up to £200. The scheme has already been launched in Princetown, Lydford and North Tawton. Cllr Margaret Garton, chairman of the council?s future planning and housing committee, who launched the Warm Up scheme said: ?I hope that residents will take up this golden opportunity which will be of benefit to so many people.? Warm Up West Devon offers discounted prices on cavity wall and loft insulation as well as offering home safety measures which include free smoke alarms. On June 23, the roadshow will be in Exbourne Village Hall between 3.30pm and 6.30pm where residents can come along and find out further information about the scheme. Grace Daniels, project co-ordinator said: ?Already, nearly 60 households in West Devon have applied for insulation measures under the scheme and we hope to help many more.? Mrs Daniels said even though it was hot and sunny at the moment before people knew it winter would be here. She said now was the time to insulate your property ready for next winter when homeowners and tenants find they have to dig deeper into their pockets to keep their homes warm and dry. Warm Up West Devon can be contacted on 0800 512 012 for information on grants towards insulation measures or heating improvements.
