AN appeal for volunteers to drive buses which provide a vital transport lifeline to people living in isolated rural areas has been launched.
Tavistock County Bus service desperately need bus drivers, as they currently have only a handful left to fill their timetable rota.
Tavistock County Bus run regular rural bus services, serving Tavistock and the surrounding area, as well as several longer distance trips across Devon.
Potential volunteers should be confident drivers, over 25, with a clean driving licence and while any help would be welcomed, volunteers should have the time available for driving routes which can run for most of the day.
Volunteers can choose when they would like to work, with rotas sent out in advance to drivers who are asked to highlight the dates they would like to drive and those which would be unsuitable.
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact John Royle, Tavistock County Bus driver trainer, on 01822 870338 or Giles Baigent on 01822 870 433.
