SOUTH Zeal Brownies are looking for a new leader. The group's current leader, Kim, has run the pack for the last three years, but is moving away from the area, and her two assistants are also bowing out due to other committments. In those three years, Kim has made the Brownies a lively and safe place for seven to ten-year-old girls from the parish, and has built the group to the point where it is full and has a large waiting list of girls eager to join. The Brownies are now desperately worried that their fun and activities might come to an end. Kim said that no experience or training is needed to run the Brownie pack: 'None of us had any experience when we started. 'We went along for half a term to sit in and watch what they did, and then we just played it by ear. 'There's also a very supportive district group of Brownie leaders, based in Okehampton, and the new leader will have a mentor to help her. 'They'll also find that there are lots of parents willing to help out — lots of mums and dads come along to run activities.' The Brownies currently meet from 6pm until 7.30pm on Wednesdays during term time — but this could easily be altered. If you think you might be able to help, or would like more information, please contact Kim on 01837 840490.
