A NEW home is being sought for an antique organ which can no longer be stored at the Museum of Dartmoor Life in Okehampton.

The museum is preparing to move into expanded premises, but, with all the new facilities planned, there is no room for the organ.

Museum curator Maurie Webber said the organ came to the museum from St James? Church but was believed to have originally come from St Ann?s Church, Meldon.

Mrs Webber said any prospective owner will need plenty of room to store the organ which measures around 8ft tall, when the original pipes are in place.

The Positive Organ is believed to date back to the early 20th Century.

Mrs Webber said she was keen to see the organ remain in the Okehampton area.

Anyone who would be interested in the organ and is prepared to collect it, is asked to contact the museum on 01837 52295.
