United Services v Whitchurch

WHITCHURCH's last league game of the season ended in a heavy defeat by champions United Services. Services won the toss and batted first, with skipper Carr stroking the Whitchurch bowling to all parts of the ground.

Whitchurch bowlers and fielders stuck well to their task, but were let down by poor catching. Of the bowlers, only Court and Davies were able to exert any control on the batsmen, with Carr scoring a match winning 91 not out.

Whitchurch made a positive start with Gray, Davies and Jeans batting brightly and at halfway were 60 for 2.

However, the innings stuttered when Jeans was superbly caught and bowled by Edwards. Only a powerful innings by Walshe helped Whitchurch past 100 before Carr and his brother took 4 wickets for just 2 runs, with Whitchurch finishing on 106 for 8.
