A TAVISTOCK pharmacist faces the challenge of a lifetime this spring, as he is due to take part in the London Marathon. Wally Lake (pictured left), 53, has been training most nights and gets up extra early on Sundays to go on a 20-mile run with members of Tavistock Athletic Club. Wally is running the race on April 23 to raise money for the Stroke Association. Wally?s mother died 12 months ago after being severely affected by a stroke she suffered ten years previously ? she was left unable to speak, to dress or even eat by herself. It was a difficult time for the family and very hard for the youngest members, who were unable to remember their grandmother properly. Wally is aiming to raise £2,000 for the Stroke Association. Any donations to Wally?s sponsorship fund will be very much appreciated ? they can be dropped off at Lake?s Pharmacy in Tavistock?s West Street, or by going on line at www. justgiving.com/wallylake
