ALL walking enthusiasts who enjoy trekking across Dartmoor are being invited to put their best foot forward and take part in the next British Heart Foundation event. The five and ten-mile walks, are due to take place on Sunday, September 25 at 10.30am, starting from Norsworthy Bridge in Burrator, Yelverton. A popular annual event for the past 15 years, it also helps raise lots of money for the charity. Kris Budge from the Tavistock branch of the British Heart Foundation said: ?This event is one of our most popular, and we have people travelling from far and wide to take part. Always well supported, it is an event to enjoy with friends and family?. She said all the money raised will go towards furthering the aims of the foundation and raising funds to purchase new cardiac equipment. For more information, or to inform the leaders you are taking part, which is essential, contact Kris on 01822 615338. A recent visit by an opera company organised as a fundraising event by the branch had to be cancelled. Kris said: ?There was not enough support. We had a certain break-even number, where we needed to sell 300 tickets, and a fortnight before we?d only sold seventy-nine?. An advertisement in the Times publicising the production of Cinderella by the Garden Opera Company appeared without the word ?Cancelled? printed across it. Unfortunately the paper went to print before the mistake could be corrected. The Times apologises for any inconvenience.
