A BUS shelter in a West Devon village has made national headlines following its homely makeover last year.
The once graffitied concrete bus stop in Walkhampton was given an anonymous cosy transformation, as reported in the Tavistock Times last August, with an armchair, cushions, flower pots and paintings.
On Valentine’s Day earlier this month, the bus stop was decorated with hearts, which has catapulted the story on to the national stage with the likes of the Telegraph, The Metro, the BBC website and radio covering the story and BBC’s The One Show was also due to descend on the village on Wednesday to film a ‘day in the life’ of the bus shelter piece.
The Rev Preb Nick Shutt, Rector of the West Dartmoor Mission Community and resident of Walkhampton said on his Facebook page: ‘Well I thought we’d make the Devon page but not the front page of the BBC website.
‘Great to have some cheering community news instead of all the usual doom and gloom. Great to celebrate the great place we live in!’
