A LOCAL charity that's helped thousands of pet owners over the years is now appealing for some help itself. The Woodside Animal Welfare Trust is holding a sponsored walk on Saturday, August 16 and needs a lot more walkers or donors to make it a real success. Sanctuary manager Debbie Haynes said: 'I've organised the walk for 15 years now and the funds raised really make a difference to our work. If everyone we've helped in that time either walked or made a small donation, it would be fantastic. Pets arrive at Woodside for all sorts of reasons, and owners aren't always able to leave a donation towards their keep. We're hoping that those fortunate enough to be better off now, will give a little something to help us in return.' The three mile Walk for Woodside takes place on Saturday, August 16 in Cann Woods, opposite the sanctuary. Registration is between 10am and noon, entry for walkers is £5 but for anyone raising sponsorship it's free.
