A POPULAR landmark dating back to the fourteenth century on the outskirts of Milton Abbot has organised a fundraising walk to help raise money for repair work urgently needed on the church.

All Saints Church in Dunterton urgently needs around £7,000 to pay for the work, after deficiencies in the roof were detected last year.

The church is Grade I Listed and now needs a new roof, and certain other works completed to secure its future — totalling £200,000.

A grant offer has been obtained from English Heritage, match funding of £25,000 is being raised by the parish, and Viridor is providing £5,000 through its landfill communities fund.

The parish residents are some £7,000 short of their £25,000 target and have organised a fundraising walk in aid of the church renovation project.

The Tamar River Walk is being held on Saturday, October 17. The walk will be held from Beera Farm near Horsebridge to Greystone Bridge — totalling seven and a half miles.

The walk will start only at Beera Farm between 11am and 1pm. Participation is free but donations of £3 for adults and 50p for children are suggested.

Parking will be available and a return shuttle service to car parks are £1.50 from 2pm to 5pm.

Refreshments will be en route at Endsleigh Ham.

Dogs on leads are welcome.
