OKEHAMPTON-based Wren Trust is appealing for more people to vote for its Nice Warm Socks project to be chosen as the National Lottery?s arts project of the year. Nice Warm Socks uses a specially-designed website and CD of folk songs to help develop the basic communication skills of children with severe learning difficulties and physical impairments. It has been so successful that it is now being used in schools and preschools across Britain and overseas. It is one of only ten lottery-funded arts projects across the whole country to be shortlisted for the £2,000 prize, and the voting is currently nail-bitingly close ? meaning that Wren has a real chance against the other contenders, which include the Tate Modern gallery in London. To vote for Nice Warm Socks, visit http://www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk">www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk before August 3 or call 0845 386 8062 ? calls cost just 1.5p from a BT landline.
