DESPITE heavy rain, singers from the Northmoor Team area and beyond attended a special choral evensong at Okehampton's All Saints Church last Sunday.
Featuring John Rutter's popular anthem 'The Lord Bless You and Keep You', an introit by Henry Purcell and Stanford's 'Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in C', more than 40 singers were joined by a congregation of 60 for the service.
Musical director Tim Matthews said: 'Having 100 people in attendance for an evening service in such bad weather is remarkable. Church and town can be very proud indeed of the quality of music we're producing here. I should like to thank those who sung and attended for being so supportive.
'We have worked very hard over the last few months and we have a vision of the kind of church and musical environment we want to develop.
'We sing music to suit all tastes and we have services at All Saints that appeal to every generation.'
