A MUST-win game for relegation threatened Okehampton squash team against second placed team Dartington. With only four games left, and Okehampton second from bottom, a resurgence was much needed. The night started well with Rob Barkwell (No 5) winning 3-0 comfortably, thanks to an error-free game from him. Steve Yeo (No 4) then harried his opponent but sadly ended up being a little too loose in his shots, going down 3-1. Donald Rooke (No 3) took to the court next and played great squash to take an early lead 2-1. Don looked like he could pull out an important victory as he led 6-2 in the fifth, but finally went down 3-2. Okehampton now needed to win both remaining matches to take the points. First up was Arnie Searle (No 2) who has been in great form, and he looked far too good early on for his opponent and won 3-0 easily. Jon Sampson (No 1) battled for every point to disillusion his opponent. After Jon had taken the first two games easily, there was a fierce fight for the match in the third game which Jon won, to take the game 3-0. A great night for Okehampton, beating a top side, and securing vital points as they push back up the league.
