Devon & Exeter Senior 1 Wellington 3 Okehampton 3 AFTER a very good start to the season Okehampton were pegged back a bit towards the start of the game. Wellington started by playing down the slope and had much more of the possession than Oke scoring 15 minutes into the game with what looked like a harmless cross but found its way into the back of the net. Oke battled hard but always seemed reluctant to shoot and preferred to try and walk the ball into the net. Steve Kinsey did well to get to the by-line and cross the ball with pace resulting in the Wellington left back directing the ball past his own keeper. With Oke playing down the slope they started the second half much brighter than their opponents and Steve Williams struck a fantastic shot only to see it beat the keeper and come back off the crossbar. Oke took the lead on the hour when Phil Evans found some space 20 yards out and buried his shot giving the keeper no chance. When it looked like Oke would go on and add to their lead Wellington equalised and continued to press hard and deservingly took the lead with about 10 minutes of the game remaining and Oke struggling to find any shape. Wellington introduced a couple of substitutes and the points looked lost until Kinsey got the ball in the opponents area. With everyone yelling around him he chose to shoot and found the back of the net with minutes remaining, this was enough to secure a point in a very tough game. WOTW award: Daniel Malcolm.
