THIS energetic and friendly game of hockey was the first of the season. Okehampton?s new captain, Jo Stephens, was willing to try a new structure with Elaine Morgan leading the attack.
Jo Moppett, the leading goal scorer last season, took the opportunity to play in goal and had an excellent game.
Okehampton scored first with a pass from Claire Smith to Sue Stanbury and the first half ended with the score one all.
Exeter, a player down, came back and showed their superior strategy and control with long passes which always found their player.
Effective tackling by backs Sandy Douglas and Carole Taylor prevented some dangerous attacks. Despite this the superiority of Exeter?s team play won through.
