BEFORE the first snowdrop or daffodil has burst through the soil, a sure sign that spring is on the way is the annual flourish of holiday adverts and brochures which start appearing at this time of year.
For the past six years, one of the most effective ways of encouraging visitors to stay in this area has been the Where to Stay, Where to Eat and What to Do in Okehampton leaflets produced by the town?s Chamber of Trade. The leaflets are distributed free to Tourist Information Offices, accommodation providers, services stations, pubs and shops.
As in previous years, the leaflets will contain a brief description of each business and contact details. It is also hoped to add an Events Calendar this year.
Okehampton and District Chamber of Trade are again asking any person who has a business directly involved with tourism to contribute to these useful leaflets.
The print run will be 10,000 of each leaflet, ready for the first of the visitors in 2004. The rate set for this year is £35 per entry.
