A NEW action group has been set up to drive forward schemes bringing new jobs, houses, road, shops and businesses to Okehampton and the hamlets.

Made up of council representatives from Devon Council, West Devon Borough Council, Okehampton Town Council and Okehampton Hamlets Parish Council, Okehampton Vision is planning to help co-ordinate future regeneration in the town with a clear vision and action plan.

Chairman of the group the Rev Philip Wagstaff said: 'When the job losses struck the town, the response from local groups and agencies was fantastic. Much positive work has taken place already but now we need a future vision and plan of action.

'We hope local people will tell us what they want for the future of their town so that we can work together to achieve as much as we can for the town and the hamlets.'

Okehampton Vision will be at the Okehampton Show on Thursday, August 9 to receive ideas from local people about what they think Okehampton needs for future regeneration.
