THREE West Devon villages will be battling for honours in the Devon Best Kept Village Competition, which gets under way this month.
Horrabridge, Meeth and Northlew have all entered the competition, which is sponsored by Calor and run by the Devon Council for the Protection of Rural England and the Community Council of Devon.
More than 40 villages throughout the county are entering this year?s competition and will be awaiting the surprise visit by the team of judges throughout May and June.
Rosalyn Kriteman, competition organiser, said: ?It is good to see so many regular entries again rising to the challenge.
?It is clear a lot of effort is being made by villagers who are all too aware that the judges arrive unannounced.?
She also praised the volunteer judges for their hard work.
Entries for the Calor Devon Village of the Year close on June 2, so there is still time to enter. The winner will represent Devon in the Village of the Year for England and Wales.
