AN application to erect a rear conservatory and an open-fronted canopy at the front of Riverside Post Office and Stores in Bridestowe was on Tuesday deferred by West Devon Borough Council?s planning committee.

Councillors heard the site was within the conservation area but was not a

listed building.

Officers recommended the conservatory be granted planning consent, but suggested the canopy should not be permitted, as it was proposed to build it on land deemed to be public highway.

The application was deferred to allow further legal investigations to take place.
