THE village of Northlew is gearing up for a busy weekend of charity events to raise money for Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
The weekend programme gets off to a flying start next Friday, August 15, with a grand summer ball in the village hall, with dancing to ?Wishful Thinking?.
There are still a handful of tickets available for the ball and buffet ? from Jane Turner on 01409 221759.
On Saturday, August 16, a charity football match between Northlew past and present teams takes place on the village playing field, kick-off 3pm.
Throughout the afternoon, a fair will also be running, featuring a bouncy castle assault course, tethered balloon rides, food and drink and plenty of stalls.
The winners of the grand prize draw will also be announced with prizes including a DVD player with a bumper load of DVDs and a Marks and Spencer hamper.
Later that evening, there is more entertainment planned in the garden of the Green Dragon pub, with ?Platypus? racing from 8pm. Place your bets for this unusual adult entertainment.
The finale to the weekend will be a grand draw of promises on Sunday, August 17, in front of the Green Dragon, beginning at 6pm. Organisers have a number of exciting promises going under the hammer, including an antique doll, a holiday cottage break and a balloon ride.
All money raised from the events throughout the weekend goes direct to Exeter Leukaemia Fund.
If anyone would like to make a contribution to the promise auction, the organisers are happy to accept suggestions up until Sunday morning. For advice please contact Jane Turner on 01409 221759 or Traci Yelland on 01409 221000.
