POST Office services will again be available to residents in Sticklepath after a two-month gap, following the official re-opening of a branch in the village hall last week. Paul Grey, chairman of Sticklepath Parish Council, and Barbara Shorman, chair of the Women?s Institute, were on hand for the official opening at the village hall on June 15, alongside Laura Tarling, rural development manager with Post Office Counters. The village post office closed in April this year, but its prompt re-opening has been made possible due to partnership work between the parish council, the village hall committee and the post office, all of whom are continuing to work together to devise ways that will ensure all members of the community are aware of the benefits the post office provides, and its wide range of products and services. The new branch is one of the first of a new type of satellite office being run in the area. Paul Grey, chairman of Sticklepath Parish Council, said: ?The parish council is delighted that post office services will again be available to the local community and visitors to the village. The council will support and promote this venture and trust the parish will rapidly get into the habit of using this facility.? Mr Grey admitted it was a case of ?use it, or lose it? for villagers, as the post office would need to be well-supported to ensure the continuing justification in keeping the facility open in the future. Customers will be able to collect allowances in cash and access personal bank accounts with participating partners. Foreign currency, travel, motor and home insurance will be available ? as well as the range of Royal Mail and Parcelforce products and services. Opening hours at the new branch will be: Mondays, 2-4pm, and Wednesdays, 9.30am-12.30pm. Laura Tarling, rural development manager, Post Office Ltd, said: ?We have been delighted with the co-operation of the parish council and village hall committee members. We are confident that in working with them we can provide much valued post offices services to the community into the future. ?We are confident that the community will rally round and support the village hall, its activities and important post office services.?
