AN official reception is planned for 30 French visitors due to arrive in Horrabridge this weekend, celebrating 25 years of twinning with Tilly-sur-Seuilles.
Hundreds of Horrabridge and Tilly residents have enjoyed exchange visits since the twinning was first established in 1975.
Many more private visits have taken place through friendships built over the years.
Roy Young, chairman of Horrabridge Twinning Association, said: 'We have developed a close relationship with Tilly over the last 25 years and many individuals and social groups have benefited from the twinning.
'We are attracting new members, and last year 30 of us went over to Tilly.'
Mr Young said the fact that several youngsters travelled with their parents for the first time last year 'bodes well' for the future.
'Now we're really looking forward to the weekend, and the opportunity to repay the tremendous hospitality our French friends offered us then,' said Mr Young.
The visitors will have a hectic programme of events lined up for their holiday in Devon, including group and individual activities.
When they arrive tomorrow (Friday), they will spend the day with their host families before the official reception in the village hall during the evening.
On Saturday an excursion to Cotehele will be followed by an evening dinner and disco at Elfordleigh Hotel.
On Sunday the visitors will take a trip to Meldon on the Dartmoor Pony train, before returning to Roscoff on the Sunday night ferry from Plymouth.
Tilly-sur-Seuilles lies in the Calvados area of Normandy between Caen and Bayeux, just a few miles inland from the beaches where the Allies landed on D-Day in 1944.
