LIFTON is the place to be when it holds its 'Big Weekend' on August 12, 13 and 14.
Following on from the success of last year's fete and fun day, this year's event promises lots of entertainment and excitement for all ages over the three days.
It starts with a family /sports evening on Friday, August 12 from 5.30pm to 9pm on Lifton's Recreation Field, where there will be children's races and games. There will also be a tug o'war competition and if you would like to test your strength and enter a team contact Elizabeth on 01566 784710.
There will also be a barbecue and bar and the event is supported by Okehampton Community and Recreation Association.
At 2pm on Saturday, August 13 the village fete will be opened by West Devon mayor and Lifton resident Cllr Donald Horn. There will be stalls, crafts and games, teas, a barbecue and more at sites central to the village.
Northlew Silver Band will entertain and the Parish Church of St Mary's will be open for visitors to look around. In the evening there will be a barn dance at Lifton Hall Hotel. Tickets from Richard on 01566 784863.
Sunday August 14 starts with a 'Family Songs of Praise' at 10.30am in St Mary's followed by refreshments.
Dartmoor Border Morris Men will be in Lifton Hall car park at 12.30pm and to round off the weekend there will be cream teas and a novelty dog show in Lifton Hall marquee at 2pm.
Funds raised at the weekend will be used for Lifton Community and the proposed Lifton Community Centre.
