AN Exeter-based charity has received a big boost thanks to the Germansweek annual cancer bazaar. Alan and Jean Smithers visited the FORCE Cancer Support Centre in Exeter this week to present more than £500 from their event. The FORCE charity was chosen this year because several people in the Germansweek/Okehampton area have benefited from the cancer support services. The purpose-built centre was opened in September 2004 in the grounds of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital after a successful appeal. It is open five days a week and welcomes anyone whose life is affected by cancer. Visitors are able to call in when it is convenient to them and therapy sessions are available by appointment. As the centre is funded by the charity FORCE there is no charge. Alan and Jean are keen to get a local ?Friends of FORCE? group off the ground and would be delighted to hear from anyone in the Okehampton district who may be interested in helping ? contact them on 01837 87314. l Alan and Jean at the FORCE centre with FORCE fundraiser Carolyne Randall.
