AN exciting project to create a an archive for the West Devon village of Chillaton received a boost recently with the award of a grant from Tavistock Lions Club.

Chillaton Village Archive Group hopes to chart the history of the village and the surrounding area by collecting a variety of artefacts and collating memories and photographs from the last century.

The Lions Club has donated £100 to the group, which will help members fund the photographic side of the project.

This will include taking photographs of all the families living in the surrounding area during the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

The official launch of the Chillaton Village Archive Group and its first exhibition will be held during the weekend of July 6 and 7 at Marystowe Village Hall.
