Tavistock Ladies 1
Plymouth Oak Villa 9
THE second leg of the cup had ten-player Tavistock with a 12-goal deficit to make up and they soon piled on the preasure with great running from Louise Evans and Kirsty Jones. It set up a good solo effort from Ven Quartermain to finish superbly and put Tavistock in the lead.
Plymouth pounded the Tavistock goal, poor clearances were picked up and they soon equalised. Shortly before half-time Plymouth went ahead with a cracking shot into the roof of the net.
The second half saw Evans helping out at the back, fighting for everything. Julie McGowan, playing centre back, pushed up and ran her socks off trying to get the ball upfield, but Plymouth held strong at the back.
Strong tackling by Evans, McGowan, Rachel Galvin and Kerry Gliddon found the midfield of Janie Sivyer and Ven Quartermain, but the lack of having eleven players showed and tiredness crept in. Sarah Blowey playing up front often found herself surrounded by the efficient defenders from Plymouth.
Lady of the match: Louise Evans.
Tavistock need players from 14 years up to strengthen their squad. Training at Tavistock sports hall on Tuesdays 8pm. See qualified FA coach Sue Hammond or Aileen Ismail, team manager.
