PLANNING permission has been granted for a video café in St James Street, Okehampton. Mr and Mrs G Bennett, who run a small video/DVD rental shop, applied for consent to incorporate a café into the business in a bid to make the enterprise more viable. A report before West Devon Borough Council?s planning committee said the applicants had indicated that the rental shop was struggling due to major high street retailers offering deals, internet availability and an increase in pirating. The application sought to provide seating for 35 customers with the intention of serving tea, coffee and cold snacks only.
