FROM the kick-off Daniel Thorne gathered the ball and Okehampton immediately applied the pressure. Oke began to find their rucking and mauling game and were unlucky not to go over for a score early on. However after some hard work by the home forwards it was Joe Mawle who crashed over the line for the first score. Good strong defence from the Bideford side ensured it stayed at 7-0 until the break.
In the second half Okehampton upbeat's took the game to Bideford and Liam Pyle was the next to score breaking blind from the scrum. From the kick it was Daniel Thorne who received the ball to run nearly the full length of the pitch to touch down.
Oke now found rhythm and applied the pressure resulting in Liam Pyle wriggling through for his second try. More scoring opportunities nearly came off, George Geoffery having a good run in the backs came close. Tries were converted by Jack Raymond, Daniel Thorne and Liam Pyle.
Credit must go to the Bideford players who defended vigorously.
William King and Daniel Van Staden made their debuts and played well while the whole team played with good spirit.
