Totnes Creameries 2
Tavistock Vets 3
THE Vets found it difficult to cope with the high bounce on the artificial surface for the first 20 minutes and went behind after just ten minutes with some sloppy defending.
Gradually getting to grips with the conditions, the Vets began to get the better of the hosts and were unlucky on a number of occasions.
New coach Phil Lowe brought much needed organisation to the side by introducing fresh legs at half-time. The Vets dominated most of the second half.
Then came Lowe's master stroke. He switched Roger Rich from his defensive role, giving him a free role in attack. This move was rewarded almost immediately when Rich scored with a screaming effort from 20 yards.
This equaliser was closely followed by the goal of the game. Steve Metters rounded two defenders before leaving the keeper grounded as he rolled the ball into the corner of the net. The Vets' lead increased to two when Paddy Kearney clinically finished after a defence-splitting cross-field pass from Dave Rowe.
Totnes grabbed a late goal but the points deservedly went to the Vets, bringing an end to their recent barren run.
