THE Royal British Legion is gearing up to celebrate this year's Veterans' Day and a special coach has been arranged so Okehampton members, their friends and family do not miss out. Plymouth Hoe is the setting for this year's Veterans' Day celebrations on Sunday, June 29 and the RBL Okehampton branch has arranged a coach to travel from the town to Plymouth for the day. It will depart from Fore Street at 10am and return at approximately 6.30pm. RBL members who wish to book a place on the coach are asked to enter their names on the club notice-board or contact the branch secretary on 01837 840757. The day is 'a celebration of the service by veterans to the life of the nation' and will include a RAF and USAF fly-by, a traditional steam past by the Royal Navy with naval helicopters and a spectacular display by the Royal Artillery Parachute Team. The day's grand finale will start at 4.30pm with a Veterans' Day Tattoo featuring the Band of the Rifles, the Plymouth Pipes and Drums, Scottish Dancers, Field Gun Run and an Air Training Corps band. The celebrations will conclude with the marching of ex- servicemen and women, ex-service association and RBL standards.
