JUST ?purrrfect? ? that was the reaction at an Okehampton veterinary practice, after it netted a national award recently. Okeford Veterinary Centre in School Road, has received a prestigious silver award from the Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB). The award is part of FAB?s National Cat Friendly Practice Competition. FAB is a charity group dedicated to improving feline well-being. It aims to make advances in the treatment of feline medicine and to promote good ?catitude? through educating veterinary professionals and cat owners. Okeford was the only veterinary practice in Devon and Cornwall to receive an award. Practice principal Philip Davies travelled to Portobello Road in London to receive the award on behalf of the practice. He said: ?We are thrilled to receive a nationally acclaimed award that recognises the commitment of the Okeford veterinary staff towards cats.? A spokesman for the Okeford Veterinary Centre said: ?The facilities that Okeford are now able to offer their patients, in the newly refurbished operating suite and kennels, clearly demonstrated to the judges our commitment to updating and improving the professional service that we provide.? The practice was nominated for the competition by one of its clients in May. The staff at Okeford then worked hard to create a presentation which was submitted for the first stage of judging. After studying the presentations, Okeford was chosen by the FAB judges as one of the practices they wanted to visit. The judges, who were all feline experts, were impressed by the cat friendly facilities and equipment offered at Okeford. They also commented favourabley on Okeford?s feline expertise, client and patient care and overall attitude towards cats.
