Devon & Exeter Premier League Thorverton 1 Okehampton 1sts 3 THORVERTON started strongly and it took a while for Okehampton to get a hold on the game. Their best chance came from a Robbie Sandercock corner, finding Tim Williams with a powerful header that flew off the cross bar. Argyle set the pace in the second half and both strikers created chances, Steve Kinsey beat two defenders and fired in a powerful shot that the Thorverton keeper did well to save, then Robbie Miller headed a chance against the post and a Kinsey follow up shot was blocked on 50 minutes. Robbie Sandercock beat the offside trap and with good control cut back inside, beating his marker to provide Kinsey with an easy tap in. Okehampton were dominating in all areas of the pitch and within minutes Miller added a second when he beat the offside trap and cleverly rounded the keeper to score, supported well by Kinsey. Defender Michael Vernon made the game safe for Okehampton with ten minutes remaining when he pushed forward, evading two challenges on the halfway line. He decided to go it alone and struck a superb shot from 30 yards into the back of the net. With ten minutes remaining Okehampton made a treble substitute, bringing off Wills Botham and Kinsey and replacing them with Agnew, Cann and Pollard. This seemed to break Argyle?s rhythm a bit and Thorverton scored a late consolation goal with just a few minutes remaining. This week home to Axminster kick off 2.30pm.
