THE vandalism of three memorial benches along the riverbank in The Meadows with gold spray paint has upset local residents.
General manager of park owners Tavistock Town Council Wayne Southall said the town council took this kind of anti-social behaviour very seriously and action was being taken to clear it up.
'We have reported the incident to the police and they will be distributing photographs to try and identify this person by their TAG [name style],' he said.
The incident is believed to have happened over the weekend and it could be related to another incident of vandalism at other council property in the town.
'We understand this is very emotive as these benches were put there to remember loved ones,' added Mr Southall.
'We do have spates of vandalism in the park every now and again and we take this kind of anti-social behaviour very seriously.'
If anyone has any information they should call Tavistock Police on the 101 number.
