A PEUGEOT van left the road and went down a steep embankment on a bend on the Tavistock side of Chillaton in the early hours of Wednesday.
Tavistock fire crew was called to the scene at around 3am and recovered the vehicle. The driver, who was the only occupant of the van, was thought to be uninjured.
l Bere Alston fire crew was called on Monday lunchtime to a fire in the village Spar shop. A pasty-warming cabinet had caught fire and was completely destroyed. The counter was also damaged.
Sub-officer Colin Show said the owner of the shop had kept the fire controlled by using the fire blanket, and they were able to extinguish it with the use of a hose reel. Despite thick smoke, there was not much damage to the shop.
