A STUNNING selection of greetings cards featuring the work of artists based in West Devon and East Cornwall has just been launched by a Gunnislake woman. Tamar Valley Art is the brainchild of Ottilia Pochat, whose portfolio of artists now numbers 17. Ottilia said her idea had grown from the Draw of the Valley Open Studios event, which took place in September. She said: ?I went to see a lot of the exhibitions and the idea grew from there. I was looking for something that I could do from home and so far, it?s been really well received. ?I?ve now got 17 artists involved, but I could have easily trebled that number and it would still have been good quality work ? there is so much wonderful artwork and talent around in this area, it?s just amazing.? The artists whose work features in the Tamar Valley Art cards are from both the Devon and Cornwall sides of the valley. The pictures range from the abstract to detailed scenes of local areas and images. Ottilia said: ?The thing about these cards is they are real artwork, which has been reproduced on the cards ? they are not designs for cards. Some of the paintings are huge, some are really little.? The original artwork uses a variety of different mediums, from oil and acrylic to batik and gouache. The cards themselves have been printed on good quality recycled board and are supplied with an envelope. They have all been left blank inside but a profile of the artist and their work is included on the back of each card. Ottilia said she has had a very positive response to the cards, from both artists and retailers who have agreed to stock them. ?I?ve had enquiries from Northern Ireland, people in Lincolnshire are stocking the cards, so it?s really putting the Tamar Valley on the map.? Some of the artists whose work features in Tamar Valley Art cards include Nick Luff, Caroline Keane, Colin Pethick, Ian Pethers, Teresa Wicksteed and Natalie Whittle. Tamar Valley Art cards, which retail at £1.79 each, are available at Alan Dolan and Mainly Stationery in Tavistock or direct from Ottilia Pochat on 0845 458 4659 or [email protected]">[email protected] They can be viewed at the website at http://www.tamarvalleyart.com">www.tamarvalleyart.com
